Irvin Guerry Tamsberg passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 in Charleston. Mr. Tamsberg was born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 3, 1938, the son of the late Irvin Grace Tamsberg and Vivian Guerry Tamsberg. He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick William Tamsberg and sister Linda Tamsberg Gardner. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Ave, Charleston at 11 AM. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun St. Charleston.
Mr. Tamsberg graduated from Rivers High School and served in the US Navy. He worked for numerous plumbing companies before starting his own company, Tamsberg Plumbing.
Mr. Irvin was a member of the Charleston Shag Club, enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling. He retired from plumbing at age 75, but continued helping friends and neighbors with plumbing issues.
Mr. Tamsberg enjoyed spending time with his two daughters fishing and playing on Folly Beach.
Mr. Tamsberg was a faithful member of East Cooper Baptist Church and a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Men’s Volunteer Work Crew sharing his knowledge of plumbing.
Mr. Tamsberg is survived by his daughter Elaine Salmonsen of California; Linda Flynn of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren including Chelsea Salmonsen of California; Jessica Salmonsen of Charleston Christina Blevins(Chad) of Summerville; Lauren Flynn of Summerville and four great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Edward Tamsberg and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
