Irene W. Strozier

Irene Elizabeth Ward Strozier went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 10, 2011.  She was born May 26, 1919 in Osyka, MS to the late Benjamin Alexander and Oliff Irene Ellzey Ward.  While still a baby, her family moved to Birmingham, AL.  She attended Shades Cahaba High School where she met and married her late husband, William Greene Strozier.


She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.  She is survived by a sister, Iris Ward Nicholas of Central, SC, three sons, William B. Strozier (Reta) of Hanahan, SC; Roland A. Strozier of Johns Island, SC and Richard L. Strozier (Mary) of Johns Island, SC; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.


She was a long time member and Past Worthy Matron of the Betsy Ross Chapter and later the Charleston Chapter 56 of the Eastern Star.  She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church and later she moved to St. Andrews Presbyterian.  In her final years, she faithfully attended Victory Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 2:00 and 3:00 PM. She will also have an Eastern Star service at the gravesite in Carolina Memorial Park. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 325 Woodland Shores Road, Charleston, SC  29412, Bible Broadcasting Network or the American Heart Association.
