Irene Ellen Gilbert, 63, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Mitchell E. Gilbert, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 19, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive at 2:00 p.m.  Interment, Emanu-El Cemetery (Maryville). Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Irene was born October 14, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Dolores Boyarsky Sackstein and Samuel Sackstein of blessed memory. She was the Director of Communications at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. 

Irene is survived by her husband of 32 years, Mitchell; her mother, Dolores Sackstein of Poughkeepsie, NY; two sons: Benjamin Jacob Gilbert of New York City, NY and Zachary Hunter Gilbert of Nashville, TN; sister, Carolyn Kalinski (Seth) of Greenwich, CT; and brother, Steven Sackstein (Ellen) of Carmel, NY.
