Irene Hirsch Baker, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Harris Baker entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 23, 2015.
Her graveside funeral service will be held Monday, August 24, 2015 in Emanu-El Cemetery, Sycamore Avenue, (Maryville) at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mrs. Baker was born January 18, 1924 in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of Samuel Hirsch and Annie Itzkovitz Hirsch. She was a former resident and president of The Sherman House.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Monroe and her husband, Berry of Charleston, SC; two sons, Samuel H. Baker and his wife, Barbara of Charleston, SC and Joshua I. Baker and his wife, Paula of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Lindsey Grace Baker; sister, Sonya Diamond of Savannah, GA and brother, Julian Hirsch of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Haley Jordan.
Memorials may be made to The Iris Baker Fund c/o Jewish Community Center, 1645 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407.
