Ira Max (Max) Morris February 9, 1933-December 11, 2017
The front porch seat next to his furry friends in the sun may be empty, but the kind and loving soul that occupied it has left a vivid string of good memories. Ira Max (Max) Morris of Union, NJ passed away on December 11, 2017. He used his big heart so much throughout his life that it needed to rest.
Poppy's kindhearted and humorous presence lives on in his cherished and unwaveringly devoted wife, Barbara (nee August) and his treasured children, Nancy and Robert Kay (of Mount Pleasant, SC) and Jay and Darien Morris (of Springfield, NJ). His life lessons and stories will continue to guide the grandchildren that adored him, Evan and Amy Kay, Michelle Morris, Molly Kay, Cari Kay and Katy Morris. His playful and simply fun nature will serve as a model for his great-grandchildren, Maggie, Maxx and Jessie Kay. The childhood stories still flow freely about her "little brother" from sister, Florence Steinberg and her husband, George, of Denver Colorado. His many nieces and nephews will continue to share the endless love they felt for their adored "Uncle Max." His companionship, back rubs and treats will be greatly missed by the four-legged Jack, Sam, Milani, Macy, Oliver, Princeton, Onyx, Bella, Sadie and Yeti.
Born on the kitchen table in Hillside, NJ on February 9, 1933 to Oscar and Lottie (nee Bateman) Morris, Max was a Navy Corpsman, past President of B'nai Brith, a Mason , PTA President, Little League coach, and was highly influential in creating the Pop Warner football program in Union, NJ for which he coached for many years.
Professionally, he started August Auto Supply Company of Irvington, NJ with his father-in-law, Henry August over 50 years ago. He co-lead this successful company for the majority of his career. He then worked into this late seventies as a Sales Representative for Buy Wise Auto Parts in Springfield, NJ
with a group of men and women that quickly became his second family and close friends.
He never met a stranger and had the gift to make everyone he touched feel valued. Let the example he set continue to bring happiness and comfort to those who knew and loved him.
