Ilse Charlotte Westerberg, 89, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Sven James Westerberg died Friday, April 22, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 604 Pitt Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment, 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Ilse was born May 7, 1926 in Berlin, Germany. She met her husband Jim while working at the Harnack House. They were married in Germany and had one daughter, Linda Susan Westerberg Jenkins. Shortly after Linda was born, they moved to East Orange, New Jersey. They stayed there before settling down in the Charleston area. Ilse spent the remainder in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she had many friends. She also was a part of the Edelweiss Singers and enjoyed wearing her dirndl and singing for Oktoberfest.

She is survived by son-in-law, Walter T. Jenkins III of Mount Pleasant, SC; two granddaughters, Charlotte Jenkins (John) Ihme and Alexandra Nicole Jenkins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda W. Jenkins and her sister, Inge Tuerpe.

Ilse will be missed by her granddaughters, son-in-law and many friends in the Charleston area.
