Ida Lou Price Ostendorff

Ida Lou Price Ostendorff, 89, of James Island, entered into eternal peace on November 23, 2011. She was the widow of Louis F Ostendorff, Jr., her beloved husband of 61 years, who preceded her in death on November 18, 2010. She was born January 27th, 1922. Ida was the 15th of 16 children and she was the last living child of Henry McLaw "Mack" Price and Rhoda Evelyn Wingard Price of Gilbert, South Carolina.

The relatives and friends of Ida Lou Price Ostendorff are invited to attend her funeral services Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Friday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Ostendorff was a graduate of Gilbert High School and the University of South Carolina with a double major in English and French. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, The Mended Hearts, VFW Post 445, and American Legion Post 147 on James Island.

Mrs. Ostendorff was a proud World War II Veteran, having served as a member of the Women's Army Air Corps (WAAC) in England with the 8th Army Air Corps until the war ended in 1945 and she was honorably discharged.

She is survived by her five children: Susan L. Ostendorff of Charleston, SC; Louis F. Ostendorff III and his wife Marcia of Raleigh; NC, Mary E. McKinna of East Haven, CT; Joanna O. Shumaker of Lexington, SC; and Eric C. Ostendorff and his wife Debbie of Torrance, CA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Nicole Hatfield, Jacob McKinna, Ani Ostendorff, Jenna Killingsworth, Amanda Shumaker, Kyle Larsen-Shumaker, Amy Ostendorff and Lindsey Ostendorff and four great grandchildren: Avery Hatfield, Paloma and Olivet Killingsworth, and Oskar Stanley.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may also be sent to either Odyssey Hospice of Charleston, 5965 Core Road, Suite 603, North Charleston, SC 29406 or St John's Lutheran Church, 5 Clifford Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
