Hugh Edward Hughes, Jr. , 71, of Walterboro, South Carolina, husband of Lois Beth Horton Hughes, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 19, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. 

Edward was born December 22, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Hugh Edward Hughes and Lois Nettles Hughes. He spent a 50 year career as a manufactured housing dealer. He was an avid hunter and loved working on the farm.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son, Mark (Sherri) Hughes of Walterboro, SC; daughter, Jennifer Christine Hughes of Walterboro, SC; two sisters, Marie N. (Roger) Baker of Cottageville, SC, Miriam N. Newton of Houston, TX; brother, Larry J. (Kimberly) Hughes of Seabrook, SC; granddaughter, Jessica H. (Eric) Bailey; grandson, Mark Edward (Caroline) Hughes, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Braydann Rose Bailey, Gabriel Luke Bailey, Ryder Jett Bailey.

Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis C. Hughes
