Hue Tuyet
Dinh
March 29, 1951 – February 20, 2026
Hue Tuyet Dinh, 74, of Summerville, SC passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 20, 2026 in accordance with her wishes at home surrounded by her family and loved ones after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's.
Hue was born on March 29, 1951 to Bao K. Dinh and Le T. Minh in Saigon, South Vietnam. The second of seven children, her early life was shaped by responsibility and sacrifice. As her mother’s health began to rapidly decline, she left school at just 16 years old without hesitation, sacrificing her own education so that she could shoulder the responsibility of providing for her siblings and ensuring her family’s survival. Even from a young age, she quietly carried burdens far heavier than most. Hue later found both employment as a waitress at the Pizzeria in Saigon as well as the love of her life, Louis T. Nguyen. They were happily married in 1972 and went on to raise three daughters together. In 1991, Hue and her family immigrated to the United States with little more than the clothes on their backs and pennies to their name. This was not for lack of her husband’s support, but because she had devoted nearly all of her resources to renovating her family home so that her siblings would be secure and well provided for before she left. As a further testament to her character, despite her deep ties to her family and homeland, she made the difficult decision to leave behind everything she had ever known in Vietnam in order to reunite her family alongside her husband, a memory which she later described as one of her most cherished. With courage and unwavering determination, she began again. Settling in Wichita, KS, she worked as a seamstress for nearly 20 years at Weckworth-Langdon Manufacturing Inc. before retiring in 2013. The work was steady and humble yet she never viewed it as a sacrifice, but rather only as a means to provide stability, opportunity and a better life for her children. She rarely spoke of her hardships and never sought recognition for her efforts. Her love was expressed in action: in long hours worked, in meals prepared and in quiet prayers offered for those she cherished.
Those who knew Hue knew her to be deeply devout in her Catholic faith and appreciative of life’s simple joys including fresh loaves of bread, Vietnamese coffee, sweets and listening to contemporary music by artists such as Khanh Ly. Yet above all, she was defined by her quiet selflessness. She consistently placed the needs of her family above her own, striving not only to uplift her children and grandchildren, but also to continue supporting her siblings long after she had married. She worked tirelessly to provide a quality of life for others that she herself had never experienced and she did so with humility and grace.
Hue is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Louis Thanh Nguyen, as well as her three daughters, Rachel Uyen Nguyen (Andy) of North Charleston, SC, Christine Tram Reida (Wendel) of Wichita, KS and Stephanie Trang Nguyen (Tracy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC in addition to two grandchildren, Nathan-Khang D. Nguyen and Naomi-Khue M. Nguyen as well as numerous other relatives.
Hue’s presence will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her and her quiet sacrifices, steadfast faith and lifelong devotion to her family will never be forgotten.
