Howard Gene Venters, 89, of North Charleston, South Carolina, loving husband of Ellen Inabinette Venters, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, surrounded by his family. His Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment will follow in the Carolina Memorial Park, with Air Force Honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, one hour prior to the service. Gene was born January 18, 1932 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, the son of the late Calvin Lee Venters and Queenie Cox Venters. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant and the previous owner of Venters Auto Sales and Oakbrook Marine.
Besides his wife Ellen, of 18 years, Gene is survived by his son, Jerry E. (Christa) Venters; his granddaughters, Melissa (Stephen) McCants and Jessica (Anthony) Ferro; his great-grandsons, Benjamin and Samuel McCants, Luigi, and Lennon Ferro; his stepchildren, Allen Shawn (Christina) McGuire and Cammie McDonald (Ricky Johnson); his step-grandchildren, Peyton, Nautica, Townsend, Mary, Ally and Shawn. He was the youngest of thirteen children and is survived by two sisters, Mary Tetterton and Barbara L. Venters.
He was predeceased by Wilma Ilene Venters, his wife of 42 years.
