Howard Devon Quillin, 91, of Hanahan, South Carolina, husband of Louise Yaun Quillin, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Howard was born January 25, 1923 in Russellville, Alabama, son of the late Eddie Austin Quillin and Polly Warren Quillin. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having faithfully served during World War II. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he was a Superintendent Welder and a member of the Superintendents Association. Howard was a member of Portside Baptist Church, and was an ordained Deacon. Howard enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes. He was a member of the Low Country Radio Controls.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Louise Yaun Quillin; his daughter, Marie Quillin Pillow and her husband, William T. Pillow, of Hanahan, SC; his grandchildren, Toni Pillow Pagels and her husband, Craig, of Hanahan, SC, W. Thomas Pillow, Jr. and his wife, Traci, of Lexington, SC, Tina Pillow Johnson and her husband, David, of Holly Hill, SC; his great-grandchildren, Deanna and her husband, Michael, Dustin, Hunter, Braden, and Devon; his step-great-grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, and Dillon; and his two sisters, Aselee Brower, and Ruby Mayfield and her husband, Hasting, all of Gardendale, AL. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Larry Quillin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Portside Baptist Church, 1179 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
