Entered into eternal rest on the evening of Saturday, January 21, 2012, Howard Irving Hicks, 83, husband of Miriam Cook Hicks of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his cryptside funeral service at Live Oak Memorial Gardens on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at J.HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC.

Howard Irving Hicks was born on September 2, 1928 in Fayetteville, New York, son of the late Fred C. Hicks and Wava Chapman Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a charter member of Wando Woods Baptist Church. He was also a Navy Veteran, a member of the V.F.W. and a former B.P.O.E.

Survivors include, one daughter, Lynn H. Helmey (Ronnie) of Summerville, SC; one son, Stephen H. Hicks (Georganne) of James Island, SC; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor Helmey, Christian Alexandra Hicks, and Ronald Keith Helmey (Chelle); two sisters, Beverly Travers and Nancy Digiulio (Michael) of Syracuse, New York; a brother-in-law, Luther Lloyd Cook (Roberta) of Charleston, SC; numerous nieces and nephews.
