Entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 16, 2012, Howard Joel Flowers, Jr., widower of Mary Alice Cochran Flowers. Residence, North Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Wando Wood Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Blackshear City Cemetery, Blackshear, GA., Sunday at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. North Area Chapel Friday between 5:00 and 7:00 PM.
Mr. Flowers was born April 26, 1920 in Blackshear, GA, the son of Howard Joel Flowers, Sr. and Ola Harr Flowers. He served with the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunner in the Armed Guard and was a member of Wando Woods Baptist Church. He retired as Forman Welder with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and taught welding at Trident Technical College.
He is survived by his son: Joel M. Flowers of Wappingers Falls, NY; one daughter: Suzanne A. Flowers of North Charleston, SC and a large extended family and his three dogs: Lady, Lucky and Little Jack. He is predeceased by a son: Howard "Terry" Flowers in 1962, and his half sister, Mildred Rose Donovan, and his half brother, Henry Flowers.
