Howard Dean Browning, 73, of Summerville, SC, widower of Linda Dodd Browning, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 15, 2012. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held Friday, December 21, 2012, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's North Area Chapel.

Howard was born February 26, 1939 in Bakersville, North Carolina, a son of the late Hubert E. Browning and the late Katherine Elizabeth Johnson Browning. He was a retired salesman for Wholesale Industrial Electric Supply, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post #147.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda K. Browning of Summerville; step-son, Phillip Boyd Smith of Rockville, MD; step-daughters, Melinda Monk of Mt. Pleasant and Jennifer Smith of Queensborough, NY; sister-in-law, Carol Browning and niece, Kelly Browning, both of Summerville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lloyd Dean Browning; wife, Linda Dodd Browning and brother, Charles E. Browning.
