Horace Paul Ford

Horace Paul Ford, age 65, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, 2012 at East Cooper Hospital.

He was born August 29, 1946 in Sylva, North Carolina, son of Paul and Edna Ford, who previously resided longest in Florence, South Carolina and brother Cecil Ford, now deceased, of Columbia, South Carolina. Horace lived in Charleston since 1970 where he worked as a CPA. He was married to Jerrie (Tweetie) Smith Ford of Charleston. He resided in Mount Pleasant after his retirement and was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant where he was an active member.

Horace was a 1968 graduate of the University of South Carolina and after completing college served in the Navy, aboard ships mostly in the Mediterranean. He also held an MBA degree from the Citadel and was a past president of Kiwanis of Mount Pleasant.

Surviving are his wife, sister-in-law Sue Ford of Columbia, South Carolina and sister-in-law Libby S. Goodman of North Charleston, aunts Viola Ford of Clemson and Ada Pursley of Greer, nieces Leigh Nunn and Katie Marr, both of Columbia, Cindy G. Smith of Corpus Christi, TX and numerous cousins in Clemson and Clover, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.

A visitation and gathering of friends and family will be held at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
