TSgt. Homer Clyde Shook, USAF Ret., 92, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Evelyn Elizabeth Purvis Shook died Wednesday, November 13, 2013. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Blvd. at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Homer was born October 31, 1921 in Vandergrift, PA, son of the late John David Shook and the late Stella Mae Fennell Shook. Mr. Shook's 20 year career in the USAF included serving in Africa and Italy during WWII. He retired from civil service as a Supervisor in the Supply Warehouse. He also worked at Hertz Enterprise along with his wife. Mr. Shook was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Deer Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife; sons: Lawrence Shook (Robin) of Huntersville, NC, Steven Shook (Rhonda) of Ladson, SC, William P. Shook of North Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Lauren Collier (Michael ) of Boone, NC; sister-in-law, Esther Shook. He was preceded in death by father, mother, sisters: Elsie George, Hazel McAninch, Viola Smyers, and brothers, Russel Shook and Roy Shook.
