Hilda S. Jones

Hilda S. Jones, 88, of Hanahan, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 20, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.

Hilda was born September 28, 1928 in Calhoun County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Jacob and Bertha Smith Strock, and the widow of the late Hugh Allen Jones. Ms. Hilda was a retired rural carrier of the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. She was a proud member of The Wando Baptist Church and Highland Park Baptist Church and lived a devout life serving as a child of God. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. To know her was to love her.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Hinson of Columbia, SC and Pamela J. Atkins (Fred Day) of Moncks Corner, SC; one brother Gilbert Strock (Sandra) and a sister-in-law, Carrie Strock (J.C.) all of Elloree, SC; three grandchildren: Brandy H. Patterson (Alec) of Columbia, SC; Michael L. Atkins, Jr. (Brandy) of Moncks Corner, SC; and Clancy C. Atkins, also of Moncks Corner, SC; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Strock; and four sisters: Mildred Jones, Emily Mathewes, Jaquelyn Delk, and Rebecca Delk.
