Hiawatha Woods

Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 18, 2010, Hiawatha Woods, 83, widower of Rebecca Hyman Woods, residence Charleston, SC.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at five until seven o'clock at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.  Inurnment will be held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11 o'clock.

Mr. Woods was born on April 10, 1927 in Bennettsville, SC to parents Pink and Smithey Jones Woods.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, after which he worked as a barber.  He is survived by three daughters, Linda W. Buice of Cumming, GA, Betty W. Oswald of Yonges Island, SC, and Rebecca L. Woods of Charleston, SC; two sons, Gregory W. Woods of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Carl S. Woods, Sr. of Charleston, SC; one brother, Bracey Woods of McCall, SC; one sister, Mable Oxendine of Maxton, NC, seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Children's Hospital, MUSC, 171 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29413
