Herbert Morris Rovick, 107, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Dora Slotchiver Rovick entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 28, 2024. His funeral service will be held graveside Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Emanu-El Cemetery (Maryville), Sycamore Avenue at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Herbert was born December 17, 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of the late Jacob Rovick and Ruby Kaufman Rovick. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, advanced to the rank of Sergeant and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge serving under General George Patton. Herbert was a life member of Synagogue Emanu-El and the owner of George's Loan and Music. He was a season ticket holder of the Charleston Symphony and loved the arts. Herbert was a life member of the Charleston Elks Lodge, a Member of the Jewish War Veteran's Association, a member of B'Nai B'Rith, a member of the Hebrew Benevolent Society and a founding member of the Seabrook Island Club. Herbert's laughter, kindness and generosity were his wonderful gifts that he shared with all.
Herbert is survived by his two sons: Jay M. Rovick (Arlene) and Alan N. Rovick (Cathy) both of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Greg Rovick, Lisa Rovick, Lauren Wishneff (Sam), Abby Rovick, Daniel Rovick and Ethan Rovick; and four great-grandchildren: McKenzie Rovick-Smyth, Avery Rovick-Smyth, Rylan Rovick-Smyth, and Austin Wishneff.
