Herbert Barnwell Johnson, Sr., 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Dorothy Barbara McKeithan Johnson, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 15, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends Friday in the Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Herbert was born November 2, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Joseph Wheeler Johnson, Sr. and Mary Crosby Johnson. He was a General Contractor. Herbert was a past member of the Hibernian Society, member of the Elks Lodge #242, past president of the General Contractors Association, and a third degree Mason.

He is survived by his son, Herbert Barnwell Johnson, Jr. (Linda) of Charleston, SC; three daughters: Donna Crimminger of Charleston, SC, Karen Ilgen (Craig) of Charleston, SC, and Gail Trommetter (Walter) of Charleston, SC; a brother, Raymond Johnson of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Michelle Johnson; four brothers; and two sisters.
