Henry "Hank" Pagen Sanders, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Lee Auld Sanders died Tuesday, July 7, 2015. He fought a long hard battle against cancer. He was brave and strong to the end. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 in the Gilead Baptist Church, 748 Gaffney Hwy, Jonesville, SC at 4:00 pm. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 9, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will also receive friends at the church from 3:00 until time of the service.
Hank was born in Jonesville, South Carolina, son of the late Preston Eugene Sanders, Sr. and Mae Ola Ivey Sanders. His accomplishments are many. He graduated from Jonesville High School in 1960 and the University of South Carolina with an MBA degree in 1967. While there he was a member and officer of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, member and officer of Blue Key Honor Fraternity, and was elected outstanding senior for his class. After graduating from USC he was employed by the General Electric company for 13 years. His last position there was in advertising and promotions in the International division at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. After leaving GE he and the family moved to Hilton Head, SC where he became a financial consultant and manager for the Robinson Humphrey Co. for 10 years. The family moved again to Mount Pleasant, SC so that he could manage the offices of Prudential Securities. He was recruited by Scott and Stringfield Securities to open and manage their first branch in Charleston, SC. Two years later he was recruited by A.G. Edwards Securities,, to do the same for them. He worked for them for 8 more years and retired in 2008. He was an avid Gamecock fan and member of the Gamecock Club.He loved tailgating at Cock's Corner and rehashing the football games with his friends. He was a lifelong member of Gilead Baptist Church in Jonesville, SC and he also served in the Army national Guard.
He is survived by his wife, 20 days shy of 47 years, Patricia Sanders; son Jason Kyle Sanders, daughter in law Tracy Dotolo Sanders, grandson Preston Henry Sanders; and one surviving brother, Lewis Sanders, in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Eugene Sanders and Haskell Sanders in Jonesville.
