Henry L. Ravenel, born November 8, 1923, died December 22, 2012. He was the son of Dorothy Wallace Ravenel and Dr. James Jervey Ravenel and the widower of Nancy Woltz Bissell of Charleston. The relatives and friends of Henry L. Ravenel are invited to attend his memorial service on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Graveside, Magnolia Cemetery at 1:00 pm. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. Mr. Ravenel was a retired Major in the Air Force Reserve and participated in World War II as an artillery man/medic in the Pacific. He was with the 301st Infantry Division in Kure, a town in the Hiroshima prefecture one month after the atomic bomb had been dropped. Henry was a past member of the Charleston Rotary Club, the Civil Air Patrol, Carolina Yacht Club, the South Carolina Society and the St. John's Hunt Club. He was also a member of the French Huguenot Church in Charleston.He was part owner of Garnel Tire Co. and a retired real estate appraiser.
Surviving are his two sons, Henry L. Ravenel, Jr. (Cathy) and Jenkins B. Ravenel (Gwynne), six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.The Family is very appreciative of the care given by the staff of Sandpiper Rehab and Agape Hospice of Charleston.
