Henry Arthur Dollason, Jr., 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kathrine Anne Poston Dollason entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 23, 2013. His graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Carolina Memorial Park at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mr. Dollason was born January 23, 1936 in Eutawville, South Carolina, the son of Henry Arthur Dollason and Elsie Griffin Dollason. He spent his youth in Ravenel and James Island. After graduating from Murray Vocational School in 1955, he served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers and also in the Marine Reserves. After serving his country in Germany and Lebanon, Henry returned to Charleston and worked for Dawson Engineering Company for 36 years. In 1993, he opened his own business, H. A. Dollason, Jr. Construction. As a contractor, his skills were highly regarded in the Charleston area. He retired in 2009 to enjoy his family and his favorite pastime, hunting.
He is survived by his wife; five children: Anne Christine Tice of Summerville, Henry A. (Chip) Dollason, III (Peggy) of Summerville, Michael S. Dollason (Kristen) of James Island, Kathrine (Kathy) Linda Hughes (Luke) of Charleston, and Patrick Lanice Dollason of James Island; two brothers, Fred J. (Buddy) Welch, Sr. of Johns Island and James D. Dollason of Navarre, FL; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Mary Louise Blackwell and one brother, David Allen Welch, Sr.
