Henrietta G. Robins, 89, widow of Ernest Arthur Robins, formerly of Charleston and Bonneau, S.C., died 22 March, 2012 at the Franke Home in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She had battled Alzheimer's for the last 12 years of her life. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
The relatives and friends of Mrs. Ernest Arthur Robins are invited to attend the funeral services on Thursday, 29 March, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church at 2:30pm. Interment will follow in the Christ Episcopal Churchyard.
Mrs. Robins was born at Numertia Plantation in Eutawville, SC, on November 16th, 1922; a daughter of Gabrielle Marion Kirk and William Snowden Gaillard. She later studied music and elementary education and graduated from Winthrop College. Mrs. Robins was a retired primary teacher with St. Andrews Elementary School and Holy Trinity Kindergarten. She, with her late husband, Ernie, were founding members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and served as the Organist/Choir director there for many years.
Mrs. Robins was a member of the Junior League of Charleston, the Carolina Assembly, DAR, and a volunteer with Roper Hospital. Her love for music and children was fully lived out in her life. (Many locals may remember her as the pianist at the Charleston Cotillion (Dancing School) at SC Society Hall during the 1960's). She was also often called to play at local parties when she and a piano were present.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest Arthur Robins, Jr. of Bonneau, SC; William Gaillard Robins (Nancy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a granddaughter, Lydia FitzSimons Robins of Columbia, SC and a sister, Gabrielle G. Gregorie of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, William Snowden Gaillard, Jr. and Richard Kirk Gaillard.
