Henrietta Brown Altman

March 3, 1918 — November 22, 2013

Henrietta Brown Altman, 95, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late William M. Altman, Jr., died Friday, November 22, 2013. A service will be held at the graveside on Monday, November 25, 2013 in Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg, SC, at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Henrietta was born March 3, 1918 in McCormick, South Carolina, daughter of the late Luke Nathaniel Brown and Henrietta Dorn Brown . She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Altman Motors of Orangeburg, SC, a family business, and was a charter member of the Orangeburg Supper Club. A former member and active volunteer in the Church of the Redeemer in Orangeburg, she was most recently a member of the Church of the Holy Cross on Sullivan's Island, SC. She and her husband were avid supporters of the Citadel for many years, and loved spending time with their family.

She is survived by her daughter, Dewise A. Bailey and her husband Ralph of Mount Pleasant, SC; her son, William M. Altman, III and his wife Nanette of Fort Mill, SC; her brother, Luke Nathaniel Brown Jr. of Ridgeland, SC; her sisters, Thelma "Junior" Cooney of Vista, CA, and Natalie Dennis of Moncks Corner, SC; and five grandchildren, Melissa Anne Altman, Angela Sharon Altman and her husband Thomas Graham, Justin William Whitesides and his wife Andrea, Cristina Altman Perfetuo and her husband Mark, and Chelsea Mehre Altman; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Dorn Brown, and her sister, Catherine Brown Nelson.

The family wishes to especially thank Henrietta's caregivers, Dinah Prine and Adriana Santos for their wonderful love and support. .
