Yvonne Ogilvie passed way peacefully on June 28th, just shy of her 99th birthday.
She was Born in Clinton, MA to parents Florence and George P. Withers. A resident of Attleboro since 1967, she was the wife of the late George S. Ogilvie.
She was a graduate of Mass General school of nursing, attended McGill University school for graduate nurses, and received her BS from Boston University. Before her marriage she held various nursing positions at Peterborough, Sturdy Memorial, and Johns Hopkins Hospitals. She was employed for 16 years as a school nurse in Attleboro and retired in 1987.
She leaves behind a daughter in law, Heather Ogilvie of Pawtucket, RI, a son, Bruce Ogilvie and his wife Laurie of Cumberland, RI, a daughter, Susan Brahen and her husband Norman of Sullivans Island, SC. She was preceded in death by her son, Harry S. Ogilvie. She leaves behind seven grandchildren David Ogilvie of TN, Daniel Ogilvie of Warwick, RI, Alex Ogilvie of Cumberland, RI, Adam Ogilvie of Warwick, RI, Harrison, Nicole, and Haley Brahen of Sullivans Island, SC, and one great-grandson, Mykah Ogilvie of Warwick, RI. She was the sister of the late Margaret Carpenter, George Robert Withers, John Withers, William Withers, and James Withers. She also leaves behind sisters in law, Suzanne Withers of Mansfield, MA, and June Withers of Venice, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Attleboro having served many years as a deacon. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Always willing to help and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed making pies, and playing bridge in her earlier days. In her later years she enjoyed visits with her family, friends, and nieces. She was a blessing to those who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will take place at the First Baptist Church in Attleboro on July 19 at 11 am with a luncheon to follow at the Attleboro Elks. Burial will be private. Gifts in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 118 S. Main St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
