Helen Branks Smoak, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of R. Earl Fischer, Jr. entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 13, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Helen was born August 7, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Charles W. Branks and Caroline Kuck Branks. She was a graduate of the High School of Charleston, a Co-Owner of Smoak's Comfort Control Heating, AC and Plumbing and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Helen is survived by her husband, Earl of eight years; daughter, Julie "Heidi" S. Shelton (Jim) of Charleston, SC; sons: J. William Smoak, III (Ann) of Charleston, SC and Glenn W. Smoak (Aletha) of Ravenel, SC; six grandchildren: Tyler Smoak, Taylor Smoak, Addie Smoak Sharpe (Brad), Eli Smoak, Kenna Shelton, and Carson Shelton; two great-grandchildren: Branks Sharpe and Blakely Sharpe; two sisters: Gretta B. Masche (Louis) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Lila B. Adams (Bob) of Charleston, SC; and brother, John A. Branks (Faye) of Folly Beach, SC.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John W. "Jack" Smoak, Jr., sister, Vivian B. Mappus and brother, Charles W. Branks, Jr.
