Helen Shieder Smith, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Harry Raymond Smith Jr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Helen’s home - 110-A Ashley Villa Circle. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
 
Helen was born October 20, 1930 in Grover, South Carolina, daughter of the late John Murray Shieder and Cora Weeks. She was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church since May 1957. She served as chairperson for parsonage committee, and played in Goodness Gracious Band at St. Mark Church. 
 
She is survived by three sons, Harry Raymond Smith III (Dana), James F. Smith (Gail), and Stephen M. Smith; sister, Doris S. Hutto, and grandchildren Harrison, Charlie, Jacob, Ryan and Olivia. 
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Raymond Smith, Jr.; and sisters, Catherine S. Westbury, Eunice S. Rickborn, Mildred S. Adams.  
 
Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church 413 Geddes Ave., Charleston, SC, 29407.
