Helen Thomas Renken, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Carl Edward Renken, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 28, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Helen was born June 4, 1936 in Centenary, South Carolina, daughter of Owen Francis Thomas and Sophie Gehlken Thomas. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1954. Helen was crowned Miss Charleston High School and was first runner up in The Miss Charleston Beauty Pageant. She married her husband, Carl, in 1958 and devoted her life to serving God and her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Frederick Hackemann Renken (Jessica) and Carl Edward Renken, Jr., both of Charleston; and four granddaughters, Harlan, Tanner, Helen, and Frances.
