Helen Yeager Osborne, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Charles Wayne Osborne entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Saint James Church, 1872 Camp Road at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Saint James Churchyard. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Helen was born February 8, 1920 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Henry William Yeager and Ruth Butt Yeager. She was a graduate of Murray High School. She worked in the Naval Intelligence Division of the Naval Shipyard during and after World War II until deciding to stay home to raise her two children.
Helen is survived by her son, C. Wayne Osborne, Jr. (Christine) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Denice O. Jones (Ricky) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren: Charles Wayne Osborne III (Mandy), Kyle Sumner Osborne (Maybre), Emily Ruth Jones and Reed Pearson Jones; two great-grandchildren: Chase Osborne and McKay Osborne; and brother, Harry "Ted" W. Yeager III (Paula). She was predeceased by a sister Ruth Yeager Zundel and brothers; Harry W. Yeager, Jr., Stanley E. Yeager, and Warren H. "Jack" Yeager. She was loved and adored by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with her many nieces and nephews, both in Charleston and in Arkansas. Nana loved her family with all her heart.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Celisa Gibbs, her long time friend and caregiver, for her loving care to their mother during her time of need.
Helen was a people person, the highlight of her week would be engaging with her fellow Palm's ladies for social hour and bingo. Helen always enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her family. They particularly looked forward to NaNa's fried chicken and okra soup. NaNa loved making Christmas Trash mix and boiled peanuts for her beloved family.
