Helen Frances Todd Freeman, 78, of Hanahan, SC, peacefully departed this life for her Heavenly Home, November 26, 2014 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother she was active in the local Christian community, often opening her home to visiting missionaries and their families. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Portside Baptist Church and a supporter, through the years, of Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Navigators, and various other Christian organizations. She was a past president of the Charleston Christian Women's Club, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, led Bible study groups, and was an active member of her church until sidelined by illness.
During her professional career, Mrs. Freeman was the head teller at Citizens and Southern National Bank and worked for several years at Cooper River Federal Savings and Loan and worked as a bookkeeper for other companies before returning to work full time at home.
She was a great lover of History and extensively researched the family genealogy. Mrs. Freeman served for several years as the President of a local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by her husband, Robert W. Freeman of Hanahan; her son, Steve Freeman of North Charleston; and three grandchildren, Nick Freeman of Summerville, Brian Freeman of Chicago, IL and Kimberly Freeman Kamphaus of Norfolk, VA.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 1 at the same location. Mrs. Freeman will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston.
