Helen Ernestine Strickland Woods

Helen Ernestine Woods, wife of 66 years to Elwyn Woods, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 16th, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 19,2021 in Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Family and friends are invited back to the fellowship hall at Grace United Methodist Church after the graveside service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

She was born in Ridgeland, SC on March 17, 1936, to the late Bessie Lee and Marion McKay Strickland. She was preceded in death by her five sisters; Emily, Gladys, Genevieve, Patricia, Kay, and an infant daughter.

Ernestine loved her family. After her sisters died, she was like a mother to her nieces and nephews. She was a great cook, loved all babies and listening to Elvis Presley.

She leaves to treasure her memory a son Paul Woods (Lisa) of Summerville, a daughter Susanne King (Charles) of Ravenel. Beloved grandchildren include Katie Woods, Abbie Woods, and John Woods, all of Summerville; Andrew (Chandler) King, Matthew King of Ravenel. Her great-grandchildren were precious to her and include Morgan Jones and Lincoln Goree. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and a special cousin and best friend, Charlene Johnson.

Memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Grace United Methodist Church.
