Helen Hart Bielefeld

Helen Hart Bielefeld passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016 at the age of 85 after a short illness. Helen was born July 28, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI to Richard Hart and Helen (Flanagan) Hart. She spent her early life in Milwaukee, WI where she was married to Kenneth Bielefeld in 1950. Kenneth preceded her in death in 2008. Helen and Ken moved to Liberty, OH in 1965 where they spent the following 32 years raising their five children. Upon Kenneth's retirement the couple moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC where they spent their remaining years. She was a loving, kind hearted and giving individual whose life centered around her family and friends. While raising her children Helen was very active with their schools and a frequent volunteer for many school programs. Helen enjoyed baking and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the scenes and culture of Charleston.

Helen is survived by five children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Richard Bielefeld, the oldest child, resides in Charleston, SC; Barbara Carney (Timothy) resides in Madison, CT, their sons Matthew of Alexandria, VA, and Sean of Middletown, CT; Russell Bielefeld resides in Youngstown, OH with his sons Steven and Christopher; Nancy Turner (Joseph) resides in Mt. Pleasant, SC, their daughter Shannon of Charleston, SC, and Jason of Brooklyn NY; and Dr. Michael Bielefeld (Dr. Cynthia Okin) resides in Perrysburg, OH, along with their sons Ethan, Taylor and Aiden. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hart.

A private memorial service will be planned for a future date. Helen will be laid to rest alongside Kenneth, her husband of 58 years. Anyone wishing to provide a remembrance is asked to make a donation to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charleston, Inc., 901 Orange Grove Rd, Charleston, SC 29407.
