Helen Virginia Ballentine Austin, 88, widow of Rudolph P. Austin of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012. The relatives and friends of Helen Austin are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
Helen was born on September 28, 1923 in Summerville, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Sidney G. Ballentine and the late Mazie Clark Ballentine. She was an active member of her church, active in many civic organizations, and was a past President of The King's Daughters and Sons - Charleston Chapter. Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte A. Fitts of Mount Pleasant, SC; one sister, Dorothy B. Boltin of North Charleston, SC, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mimi." She was preceded in death by her sister and brothers, as well as her daughter, Sydney A. Stevenson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant "Children's Ministries," 681 McCants Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
