Hazel Timmons Thames

Hazel Timmons Thames, 81, of Awendaw, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 11, 2023. A private graveside service will be held in the Wilson Cemetery.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Hazel was born June 1, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late James David Timmons and the late Addie Lee Baker. She loved her children, grandchildren, sitting on her porch, enjoying the view of the waterway and Bull's Island. She will be remembered for her home cooking and the devotion she had for her family.   

She is survived by her children, Rufus Jennings Thames III (Terri) of Bristol, VA, and Lisa Thames Avant (Marty) of Hemmingway, SC; grandchildren, Jennings Thames Avant, and Jenna Kay Avant; siblings, James David Timmons, Jr. (Faye) of Santee, SC, Tommy Timmons (Suzette) of Awendaw, SC and Judy Timmons Barnette of Awendaw, SC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Rufus Jennings Thames, Jr., and siblings, Walter David Timmons, and Mary Evelyn Timmons (Shelbey).
