Harry Rephan Needle

Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of January 23, 2012, Dr. Harry Rephan Needle, husband of Ann Sherman Needle. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Rephan Needle are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Thursday January 26, 2012 at 12:00 noon, at the graveside in Emanu-El Cemetery, "Maryville".
Dr. Needle was born October 2, 1925 in Charleston, SC, the son of Joseph Needle and Bertha Rephan Needle. He was a graduate of The Citadel and Emory University Dental School in Atlanta, and served as a First Lieutenant United States Army Dental Corps. He attended Synagogue Emanu-El and was a member of the Hebrew Benevolent Society.
Dr. Needle was on the Board of Trustees of the Medical University of South Carolina, a 50 - year member of the Country Club of Charleston, a member of various dental organizations, including the Charleston Dental Society, SC and American Dental associations. He was also a member of the Planetary Society.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years of Charleston, SC; four daughters: Carla N. Seitz (Ronald) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Sally N. Hawes (Verne, deceased) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Julie N. Oxley (Mark) of Chevy Chase, MD and Susan N. Brickman(Jeffrey) of Dunwoody, GA; one brother: Morton Needle of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Jake Oxley, Matthew Oxley, Rachel Hawes, and Joseph Brickman.
