Harry Kelton McKenna, Sr., 80, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widower of Marion Ethel Champa McKenna entered into eternal rest Monday, June 11, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Victory Baptist Church, 335 Woodland Shores Road at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens, Old Hwy 52, Moncks Corner. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Harry was born October 13, 1937 in Denmark, South Carolina, son of the late William Walter McKenna and Mertie Mae Hutto McKenna. He served at the Charleston Naval Base Fire Department for 10 years, and 36 years total at the Charleston Naval Base and Shipyard. He enjoyed metal detecting. Harry was a volunteer fireman at St. Johns Fire Department on Johns Island. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he also served as an Usher.
He is survived by his two daughters, Darlene M. Waters of AZ, Catherine M. Weathers (Michael) of Johns Island, SC; son, Harry K. McKenna, Jr. of Johns Island, SC; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, five sisters, Paulette, Patsy, Barbara, Norma, Brenda and Lois.
He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Linda Bendorf and Deatra Dooley and one grandson.
