Harris "Harry" Angelo Sirigos, 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Bessie Fichera Sirigos, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 23, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street at 12:00 p.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Trisagion beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Harry was born October 3, 1923 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, son of the late John Sirigos and Jennie Tolis Sirigos. He graduated from Lawrence High School in June, 1942 and joined the Navy in November, 1942. Harry served on the U.S.S. Iowa (BB-61) and on the US.S. Wisconsin (BB-64) during World War II. He had tours of duty in the European Africa Area, Middle East Area, Asiatic Pacific, Philippine Liberation and Occupation Force of Japan. In Korea, he was on the Inchon Invasion and had many embarkations and debarkations. In 1968, after more than 20 years of service, Harry retired in Charleston, SC.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita Magliola (John) of Charleston, SC, son, John Sirigos (Nancy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren: Dana Magliola, Cecilia Sirigos, Chelsea S. Sosnowski and two great grandchildren: Elliott Magliola and Quinn Sosnowski.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Streetm Charleston, SC 29403.
