Colonel Harriet Rachel Nesbitt, USAF (Ret.), 88, of Mount Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 7, 2013. Her memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 4:00 pm. Burial will be private.
Harriet was born December 4, 1925 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Chester Luther Nesbitt, Sr. and the late Gertrude James Nesbitt. She was a retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, a registered nurse, a speech pathologist and owner of a gift shop in Denver, CO selling mechandise from the Middle East and the Orient.
Harriet graduated from the Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 with an RN in nursing, Colorado University with a BS in nursing in 1953 and received her MA in Speech Pathology from Denver University in 1972.
She is survived by a cousin, Myrtle Butler; nephew, Clifford Whitehead Jr. (Denise); niece, Trudy Easton; niece, Mary Lee Welch (Vincent); nephew, James Whitehead (Diana); niece, Harriet Bechtol (Davis); niece, Gail Walker (Jay); nephew, Theron Nesbitt (Jean); and niece, Judy White; and a large extended family.
