Harriet Ann Likes, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away at The Village at Summerville Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Her funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Miss Likes was born October 14, 1927 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Brig. General Creighton Edward Likes, Sr. and Fannie Belle Beckmann Likes. She graduated from Memminger High School and Winthrop College.
A school teacher for over 35 years, she helped start the Kindergarten Program at the Second Presbyterian Church and taught there for many years. She went to Murray Vocational High School as a Physical Education teacher and coach of the girls basketball team. Later she taught at Horizon House, a public school for students with learning disabilities.
Miss Likes was an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church for many years. She taught Sunday School and served as both a Deacon and Elder in the church.
She is survived by her brother, Creighton E. Likes, Jr. (Connie); three nieces and one nephew, Christine Beckmann Zollweg (Josh), Creighton E. Likes, III, MD (Christa), Mary Louise Middlemiss (Jimmie), Madge Ann Teseniar (Jeff) and eight grand nieces and nephews.
