Harold M. "Billy" Richman, 90, of Charleston, SC, husband of Sydney Solomon Richman, died Sunday, December 28, 2014. His funeral service will be held at the graveside Monday, December 29, 2014, in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery "Maryville", Sycamore Avenue, at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Billy was born August 12, 1924 in Newport News, Virginia, son of the late Abraham Richman and the late Lillian Seni Richman. He was a retired private investigator. Billy was on a basketball scholarship at Duke University when he joined the Marine Corps. He was a World War II veteran, where he was an orderly for President Harry Truman at the Pottsdamn Conference. Billy was a member of the Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue, the Jewish Community Center, the Hebrew Benevolent Society and the Charleston Jewish Federation.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sydney; two sons, Benjamin Yaschik of Silva, NC and Martin Yaschik of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Barbara Yaschik and partner, Kim Roy, of Manitou Springs, CO; and sister, Evelyn Richman of Newport News, VA.
