Harold Frederick Mahoney

Harold "Hal" F. Mahoney, Jr, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Sherry Johnson Mahoney entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 23, 2014. His funeral service will be held in James Island Presbyterian Church Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.

Hal was born October 27, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Harold F. Mahoney and Ruth DuPuis Mahoney. He graduated from Rivers High School and Palmer Business College. Mr. Mahoney served in the Army National Guard and retired as an accountant with the Piggly Wiggly Corporation. He was a member of James Island Presbyterian Church, Washington Light Infantry, Sumter Guards, and B Company.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years; two daughters: Molly M. Wiser (Justin) of Charleston, SC and Marlo M. Burgess (Mark) of James Island, SC; four grandchildren: Justin, Brooke, Harry, and Thomas; his brother, Michael C. Mahoney of Moncks Corner, SC; and two sisters: Barbara M. Grooms of Charleston, SC and Nancy M. Smythe of Charleston, SC.
