Harold Leon DuPuis, Jr., 93, of North Charleston, SC, widower of Mary Frances Sumner DuPuis, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 18, 2013. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, at 12:00 noon. Interment with military honors, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Stuhr's North Area Chapel.
Harold was born January 30, 1920 on Bogard Street in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Harold Leon DuPuis, Sr. and the late Edith Mervell Welch DuPuis. He was a 1938 graduate of the High School of Charleston. He served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographic tech in Washington, DC and a lineman in New Georgia, Northern Solomon Islands. He was a World War II veteran. Harold retired in 1979 with 34 years of service as a postal expediter with the United States Postal Service and has enjoyed 34 years of retirement. Harold was an active member of the Wando Woods Baptist Church and enjoyed activities with the Keenagers. He enjoyed Folly Beach and camping in the Smoky Mountains.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee Rogers (Paul) of North Charleston and Martha F. Lisicki (Andrew) of Folly Beach; two granddaughters, Jennifer L. Amerson and Kimberlee E. Lisicki; two grandsons, Paul H. Rogers III and Andrew R. Lisicki; a great-grandson, Dylan B. Amerson; sister-in-law, Gloria A. DuPuis; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary; two sisters, Lucille B. DuPuis Knight and Edith D. DuPuis Fryar; and two brothers, Edward E. DuPuis, Sr. and Russell C. DuPuis, Sr.
