Harold Bliss

November 16, 1920 — April 17, 2012

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 17, 2012, CPO Harold Bliss, USN (Ret), of Meggett, SC, husband of Wilma Maxine Lewis Bliss. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bliss are invited to attend his graveside services Friday, April 20, 2012 in Riverview Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Thursday from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.

Born November 16, 1920 in Portsmouth, Ohio, Harold was the son of Norman and Norma Cooley Bliss. Chief Bliss retired from the United States Navy spanning a career of 28 years including serving as a veteran of World War II and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Following naval retirement Chief Bliss was employed for many years at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years Wilma Lewis Bliss of Meggett; daughter Beverly B. Kruger and husband Kurt Eric Kruger of Meggett; 4 grandchildren Bruce David Rose, Michael Howard, David Cary Baker, and William B. Quakenbush; and several great grands. Mr. Bliss was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Sue Rose and a son Michael Timothy Bliss.
