Harbin Dawsey Goudelock

May 9, 1915 — November 2, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 2, 2010, Harbin "Dawsey" Goudelock, a resident of North Charleston, SC.  All services private. Interment will take place at a later date.

Dawsey was born May 9, 1915, in Pacolet, SC, the son of Arthur Lenox and Mary Naomi Whitlock Goudelock.  A high school graduate, Mr. Goudelock served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  After returning from active duty, Dawsey served in Civil Service as an aircraft mechanic.  He first worked at Donaldson Air Base, then moved to Savannah, GA, and finally to Charleston Air Base, from which he retired.

Mr. Goudelock's greatest love was music, and he spent much of his life playing the piano.  An accomplished pianist, he was a virtuoso in all music styles except classical.  He was able to play any piece he heard, and often played in jazz bands, big bands, and played for weddings and other special occasions.

Dawsey is survived by one sister, Annie Lee Adams, of Guilford, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was especially fond of his niece Kathryn Lynn Carter, whom he helped raise.  He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Bennie G. Nash, Laura Rogers, and Mary Louise Goudelock; and one brother, John C. Goudelock.
