Hannah Kaminski Silver, 87, of Charleston, SC, widow of Dr. Bernard Silver, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 1, 2013. A graveside service will be held in Emanu-El Cemetery, Maryville on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J.HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mrs. Silver was born in Charleston, SC on October 22, 1925, the daughter of Joseph Kaminski and Jenny Litman Kaminski. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a graduate of Murray Vocational School. For many years, she worked as the Office Manager for her husband's Podiatry practice in downtown Charleston. She was an artistic, elegant, and strong woman who enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, crossword puzzles, reading, mahjong, and knitting. She started the Knitting Club at Ashley Park Retirement Community where she was a resident for many years. The Knitting Club made blankets and hats to donate to the premature babies at the Medical University of SC. Mrs. Silver was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El, Sisterhood, and Hadassah.
She is survived by four daughters; Marilyn Williams of Charleston, SC, Sharon Binder (Michael) of Ravenel, SC, Claire Goldmintz (David) of Charleston, SC and Teresa Markey (Joseph) of Flagler Beach, FL. She had 12 grandchildren; Dana, Joel and Rachel Binder, Jesse, Noah, Selma, Teala and Nasse Williams, Sean Markey, Tara Lundahl, Jacob and Jenna Goldmintz. She also had 4 great-grandchildren and a niece, Regina Cohen. Mrs. Silver was predeceased by her brother, Jerome Kaminski; her sister, Dorothy Cohen and a nephew Bernard Cohen. The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers Jahbrisha Pennick, Angela President, and Jennifer Miller and the nurses and staff at Odyssey Hospice.
The family will receive friends at the home of Sharon & Michael Binder in Ravenel on Tuesday, June 4th, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
