Entered into eternal rest on the evening of March 29, 2011 GySgt Anthony Joseph Margiotta, Sr., USMC (Ret.), husband of Ethel Williams Margiotta. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Margiotta are invited to attend his funeral services at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Friday, April 1, 2011 at 9 am. Burial with military honors will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery at 12 (Noon). The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel this Thursday afternoon from 5 until 7 pm.
Mr. Margiotta was born in Manchester, Connecticut on November 1, 1930 to the late Vito Margiotta and the late Antoinette Cipriano Scarlato. He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps and during his 20 year career in the military he served in the Korean War as well as two tours in Vietnam. He was a proud Marine and member of the American Legion and Ashley River Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Ethel Williams Margiotta of Charleston; a son, Anthony J. Margiotta, Jr. of Nashville, TN, three daughters, Bonnie L. Margiotta and Deana M. Margiotta both of Charleston, and Christine A. Margiotta of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Nicolas C. Margiotta of Charleston, John (Danny) Margiotta, USN of Virginia Beach, VA, and Teresa M. Millard of Charleston; four great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Paige, Evelyn, and Lola. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Clough of Wilmington, NC and Mildred Maxwell of Manchester, CT.
