Gunner Chance Geiger
We gave him this Herculean name for a couple reasons. We wanted our boy to have a fighter name, so he knew how badly we wanted him. We wanted to give him a chance even though doctors might have believed differently. We physically chose the chance and life for him and it was the best decision we have ever made. In celebration of him we wanted to share a few prayers that the Lord answered and favorite memories with him.
On May 26th, Erin prayed that Gunner would come early and without complications. On July 13th that prayer shifted. Erin began asking God for a smooth delivery, no distress for Gunner and his arrival to be timed by the Lord. Closer to his due date, we decided to induce so family and friends could come. Gunner arrived on his terms - no induction or medical aid needed. We have so much peace that we didn’t decide the duration of his life but God did.
Over the 4th of July we got to give Gunner a real Delaware experience by catching crabs via trotline. It’s an action packed thrill dunking the net to get each crab off the line and making sure none of the big ones get away. Gunner and mom got 7 keepers in one line. We sure weren’t going to let any heckling occur over a keeper getting away!
On August 1st, Kyle came home and insisted that Gunner have some “big league chew” a common chewing gum for kids in baseball. Kyle gave us a big wad of “Big Rally Blue Raspberry” which I enjoyed for a few minutes followed by a lot of movement in my tummy. Gunner really liked Big League Chew.
At the start of hunting season and just before family vacation Kyle got a personal best buck and we made it on the instagram of Cordray’s as a family of 3! The season wouldn’t have been complete without Gunner’s first ATV ride or helping dad put out corn.
During the week of August 19th, we went to Florida for family vacation and Gunner was part of his first team sport - pickleball. Complete with matching shirts we dominated as a team of 3!
And our most favorite include all the fishing trips with little g. Including the last real day he spent in Erin on August 31st.
There are many more memories like this but ultimately we want everyone to know that despite our sorrow and grief that Gunner got the best life has to offer - straight from mom into the Lord’s arms. We’ve reflected and laughed knowing that Gunner skipped getting scolded among other things he might have experienced getting disciplined by us. We are forever in love with you and grateful for your time with us. We can’t wait to hug you in Heaven someday sweet boy.
If you'd like to honor Gunner please note two ways to do so:
Make a donation to the "Geiger Bench Fund" and send a check addressed to the below:

Enjoy the song “It Is Well”. When he came into this world on September 1st the song playing was “It Is Well” which reminds us all that with God it can be well with our souls.
