Mr. Grover Christopher Chaplin, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Joyce Sayer Chaplin died Thursday, December 13, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Highway at 10:00 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Grover was born February 1, 1926 in Meggett, South Carolina, son of the late Grover C. Chaplin and the late Estelle Bruer. He graduated from St. Paul's High School, was a Naval Veteran of WW II and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Supervisor in Quality Assurance Code 133.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Sayer Chaplin of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Deborah C. Burdell (Robert) of Charleston, SC; a son, Christopher W. Chaplin (Theresa) of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Frances Callahan of Columbia, SC, and Mary Lamb of Charleston, SC; two grandsons, Justin Chaplin, and Jordan Chaplin. He was preceded in death by a brother, L.O.Chaplin.
