Greg Steven Engstrom, 52, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Debra Hall Engstrom entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 5, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Friday July 11, 2014, at 11:00 am in St. Andrew's Church Mount Pleasant, 440 Whilden Street, Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends Thursday July 10, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Greg was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois, graduating from Kewanee High School in 1980 and from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1984. Soon after moving to Charleston, South Carolina, Greg took up catering and shared his passion for food with many. He was always drawn to sports and maintained a competitive edge about him. Basketball, baseball, and football were among his greatest joys and in 2009 Greg was inducted into the Kewanee Hall of Fame alongside his 1979-80 basketball team.
Throughout his life he enjoyed biking, cooking, playing catch and spending time with his family and friends. Greg loved the Lord and was an active part of several groups as a leader, mentor, and friend. He always gave of himself so that people might encounter Jesus and know truth. He was convinced of the gospel and passionate about living a life of worship. His love for his family never wavered and his life helped to make them better. His legacy will not soon be forgotten and his influence will continue to impact people for the gospel.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hall Engstrom of North Charleston, SC; son, Owen Engstrom of Dallas, TX; daughter, Taylor Engstrom of Davenport, IA; step-daughter, Chelsea Blevins (Stephen) of Charleston, SC; step-son, David Partridge (Alison) of Charleston, SC; one granddaughter, Olivia Partridge; two brothers, Kyle Engstrom of Kewanee, IL, Mike Engstrom of Phoenix, AZ.
